This rail is fine but the pictures all show it attached to stairs which is what we thought we were buying but when reading the fine print (after only the railing showed up) we realized we were not getting the unbelievable deal we thought we were!We bought these for our senior community and it cracked and of course just a day after my deadline to return. No one exceeded the weight limit and it cracked and injured a person! The only reason I gave it a 3 star is that it arrived without the nuts and spacer!I had to make due with what I could find in my own tool box. Other than that it does what it's designed for. While I like the handrail, the hardware that is required to attach the handrail to the Taylor Made dock steps were lazily put into the box (my assumption) so that the nuts bolts washers etc. could easily fall out and they did during delivery. The hardware bag had one bolt missing, all washers, all nuts, etc. I contacted customer service explain to them in detail the problems, they sent the wrong hardware. Directions included cabs do not include a description of the size of the bolts, nuts, washers etc. Had to go to the hardware store and measure all nuts, bolts, washers, etc.The handrails itself were not we’re not as lightweight as initially thought. They are indeed sturdy and once you obtain all the correct hardware (Taylor made or not send the correct hardware needed), you must use a drill because the holes in the dock steps are not drilled. Well this is not necessarily that difficult, it was certainly unexpected; Customer service dropped the ball; and it took additional time an additional trip to the hardware store to figure out what hardware was needed. Would recommend considering alternatives after this experienceI used to think I was as sure footed as a mountain goat. As the years go by, instead of being as sure footed as one, I'm starting to LOOK like one, and to add insult to injury, I stumble like a skid row drunk when stone cold sober.Exaggeration? Maybe a little.First I purchased the steps,This did not include the steps. At nearly $100, this is suprising. Recommend that the seller explicitly state that the steps that are displayed in all of the images are not included. These steps are perfect for getting on and off our boat. Our swim platform is lower than our dock so we placed these steps on our swim platform over a rubber mat. The railing makes the steps safer. If you are installing both the steps and the railing, bolt the steps down first. There are four indents on the steps and this is were you are supposedly to drill. Don't assume that these indents line up with your railing, instead put the railing next to the steps and use it as a template. The front two bolting areas require your arm to be in underneath the steps to lock down. I recommend two people for this installation. The railing itself is made from a good quality aluminum tubing and the instructions are ok. Being a big person I can truly say I've tested this railing and it has held up and made boating a lot safer for my kids and my elderly parent's. Can't go wrong!
