The first thing you need to know about Dog Eat Dog is that there is no emotional center of the film. Each one of the main characters is completely irredeemable and a scum bag. There is no heart to the movie. This is a black comedy crime story about 3 psychotic criminals trying to pull off one last big job. They kidnap the baby of their bosses rival for ransom and of course everything goes wrong.If you don't have a dark sense of humor this movie might not be for you. Willem Dafoe runs away with the movie as Cage's crazed side kick Mad Dog. If you don't think you can find a scene funny where Dafoe randomly blows a guys head off and Cage just looks at him and yells "Bad Dog!", then you might want to pass on this.This is a dark movie and I think Paul Schrader and Nic Cage definitely have made a film that improves on their last collaboration Dying of the Light. Dafoe is stealing scenes every time you see him.Definitely worth the $6.99 rental on Amazon
